The Super Eagles were not entirely convincing in their last two games, and it has shown in the latest FIFA rankings
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped five places to 40th in the latest FIFA rankings after their results against Guinea-Bissau in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers Soccernet.ng reports.
Nigeria lost 1-0 to Guinea-Bissau in the first leg of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March. However, they bounced back by picking up a victory in the reverse fixture at the September 12 Stadium in Bissau.
Following the disappointing results, the Super Eagles have dropped in the latest rankings released by FIFA. Nigerian were 35th in the previous rankings. However, they are now the 40th-best team in the World. In Africa, the Super Eagles are now sixth. They are behind the 2022 World Cup semi-finalists Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt.
Morocco’s last victory against Brazil did not make any change in their ranking, as they sit 11th in the World.
However, Brazil paid for the loss, as they dropped to second place, with World Cup Champions Argentina displacing them from first place.
The Selecao dropped to third place, as France climbed to second after two victories against Netherlands and Ireland in the last round of EUROS qualifiers.
Belgium, England, Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Portugal, and Spain make up the top ten.
