In the Italian Serie A, Victor Osimhen’s excellent run of scoring in eight consecutive league games came to a halt as Napoli succumbed to a narrow 1-0 loss at home to Lazio.
It is only Napoli’s second defeat in 25 league matches this season.
In the French Ligue 1, Terem Moffi failed to replicate his brilliant hat-trick display away to Monaco as Nice scrambled to a 1-1 draw on home soil against Auxerre.
Moffi was replaced in the 79th minute.
Former Super Eagles star, Ogenyi Onazi scored his first goal since moving to Bahrain to power East Riffa to a stunning 4-2 comeback victory at Bahrain SC.
The home side took a comfortable two-goal lead within the opening 21 minutes, but Sami Al Husaini’s brace dragged East Riffa back on level terms.
Seven minutes from time, Onazi kept his composure to score his side’s winning goal from the penalty spot before Yuri’s late effort added colour to the win.
In Belgium, Raphael Onyedika was a second-half substitute as champions Club Brugge were disgraced 3-0 at KV Oostende.
In the Portuguese Primeira Liga, nothing got past Bruno Onyemaechi at left-back as Boavista were held to a goalless draw by visiting Arouca, who had on parade Yusuf Lawal.
Kehinde Fatai, 33, scored the only goal of the game as struggling Oţelul overpowered their visitors, Csikszereda, at the Stadionul Oţelul in Galaţi in a Romanian Liga II encounter.
In South Africa, goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi made the bench for new club Swallows and watched as his teammates were torn apart 4-1 by Orlando Pirates.
Akpeyi had been without a club since Kaizer Chiefs last year.
