Benjamin Frederick: RB Leipzig, Midtjylland, and Anderlecht interested in U-20 AFCON star

The 17-year-old defender was one of the best players at the youth championship in Egypt, and he has attracted interest from some European clubs

RB Leipzig, FC Midtjylland, and Anderlecht are interested in signing Nigeria Under-20 defender Benjamin Frederick.

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria finished third at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt earlier in March. They performed below expectations, but some players distinguished themselves in the team.

Frederick was one of the stars that proved his brilliance for the Flying Eagles. He was one of coach Ladan Bosso’s most-trusted lieutenants.

The 17-year-old center-back played every single minute at the AFCON and was astute in defense.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano now reports that Frederick has caught the eye of some top teams in Europe. German side RB Leipzig, Danish club Midtjylland, and Belgian team Anderlecht have shown interest in his services.

The clubs interested in him are known for their production of young stars. Midtjylland has played host to Nigerian players like Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika.

The 17-year-old is currently in the books of NPFL side Nasarawa United, but he is yet to break into the first team.
