Two Nigerian stars were involved, and another was left on the bench as Empoli and Udinese played out a thrilling Serie A clash
2020 Super Eagles invitee, Kingsley Ehizibue, has expressed his delight as Udinese secured their first league win in seven games with a 1-0 victory away at Empoli on Saturday, March 11.
Rodrigo Becão scored the match’s only goal in the 54th minute, enough to secure all three points for Udinese at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.
Ehizibue, who joined Udinese from Cologne last summer, made his 20th Serie A appearance and has become an important member of the first-team setup.
The 27-year-old wingback was quick to acknowledge the importance of the victory, not just for the team but for their fans as well.
“Another great game, an important victory without conceding any goals. I am very happy. It was very important for us to win after six matches, but also for our fans. We are all happy; we have a great team,” Ehizibue said after the match.
However, the winger was forced off in the 77th minute after picking up a knock. Despite the injury, Ehizibue reassured fans about his physical condition, saying, “I’m fine, nothing serious.”
The victory sees Udinese move up to 9th on the Serie A table, with 35 points from 26 games played. Udinese will be looking to build on their impressive performance when they host champions AC Milan in their next league fixture on Friday, March 18.
