The former Nigerian youth international has proven his quality time and again in the Italian top flight
Fiorentina are poised to move for Nigerian forward David Okereke should Cremonese suffer relegation from the Italian Serie A, according to reports from the country’s media.
Okereke is becoming a reliable goal source in the Italian top flight, despite only appearing for struggling clubs.
Last season, the 25-year-old attacker netted seven Serie A goals and created one assist in 32 appearances for Venezia FC, even as the club eventually dropped to Serie B.
The former Spezia star joined newly-promoted Cremonese on a permanent deal from Club Brugge in the summer and has already notched five league goals in 21 games this term.
Okereke also registered two goals in the Italian Cup to help Cremonese reach the semifinals for the first time in the club’s history.
But Cremonese continued to struggle in Serie A with the Gray and Reds, yet to win a match after 23 rounds and are favourites to suffer relegation to the second tier.
And as per Serie B News (via Calcio Cremonese), Fiorentina will swoop for Okereke in the summer should Cremonese drop to Serie B.
The Violets will reportedly be able to sign Okereke for five million euros.
