Is Victor Osimhen’s near-perfect performance against Juventus the best of his career?

A deadly striker in front of goal, the Nigerian remains a humble and compassionate professional away from it

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen showed he has a truckload of humility and compassion as he went on to apologise to a fan who caught the striker’s ball in the face on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred during warm-up as Spezia prepared to play host to Napoli in the matchday 21 fixture at the Stadio Alberto Picco.

Osimhen, while kicking shots at goal, inadvertently sent a shot into the stand and the ball accidentally hit a woman on the face.

But the Nigerian forward immediately went up into the crowds to apologise to the woman, hugged her, and posed for selfies before going on to continue Napoli’s unstoppable-looking title charge.

“I think she was looking at her phone, the ball hit her in the face and I felt so sorry, as I didn’t mean to do that,” Osimhen said to Sky in Italy afterwards.

“I had to show my appreciation and say sorry for that.”

Osimhen put the incident behind him and went on to score twice as Napoli thrashed home team Spezia 3-0 and extend their lead atop the Serie A table to 13 points.

The former Lille lad insists that the target remains to win the first Serie A title in 33 years for the Neapolitans.

“All the victories are important, we need to keep the momentum and try to win all games,” added Osimhen.

“It is not going to be easy of course, Serie A is a very competitive league and we have to be on top of our game. We go back, we prepare for the next game, that is the most important thing.”

Osimhen has now scored 16 Serie A goals, four more than closest challenger, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.
