Iheanacho has had a tough season, but he put up a great performance against Gillingham
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho ended his four-month barren run as he scored the winner for Leicester City in their 1-0 win over Gillingham.
Leicester City traveled to Priestfield Stadium to take on Gillingham in their round of 32 FA Cup clash.
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers gave Iheanacho a rare start to spearhead the attack alongside Jamie Vardy.
Leicester City bossed the play and dictated the run of play. But Gillingham gave them a good run for their money as they kept it tight at the back and ensures that they were unable to find the net.
However, the foxes resumed the second half with more urgency, and they were rewarded.
Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho reacted quickest to a ball that was bubbling in the box after the Gillingham goalkeeper made a save, and he struck a powerful shot into an empty net to put the Foxes ahead.
Gillingham poured bodies forward to get an equalizer, but Leicester City stayed in control to ensure they ran out with the 1-0 win.
Iheanacho’s goal was his 16th in the FA Cup as per Opta, and it is the highest any player has scored since 2016.
