Three Premier League teams are interested in signing Akpom, who joined Boro in 2020 after beginning his career with Greek club PAOK Salonika after permanently departing Arsenal in 2018.

Crystal Palace, Everton and Southampton are all keeping tabs on Super Eagles hopeful, Chuba Akpom.

The Middlesbrough striker has recently garnered headlines for his recent performance for Michael Carrick’s team.

The 27-year-old has been able to lead the top scorer board with his goals as he rockets himself back to the top division with his remarkable performance.

The former Arsenal player has 13 goals and one assist in 19 domestic league games for North Yorkshire.

However, the former PAOK forward’s total this season includes eight goals in Carrick’s nine appearances, which has helped Boro move from third bottom to just 2 points outside the play-offs.

According to the Daily Mail, this has piqued the interest of certain Premier League teams looking to improve their squad in the Winter window in preparation for the second half of the 2022-23 season campaign.

Reports revealed that his remarkable performance has caught the attention of Everton and Southampton, who are separated in the EPL rankings by three points and are on the verge of relegation to the Second Division following a dreadful run of 17 matches.

Meanwhile, the Saints, who have suffered losses as a consequence of failing to sign a striker this summer, were previously linked with Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi, who has developed into a goal machine in Ligue 1.

They may as well keep an eye on Akpom if Moffi’s deal falls through, or acquire both players if feasible, to jump out of the relegation zone.

Given how much the squad needs a striker, Akpom, whose market worth is roughly €2.80 million, may cost Southampton a little extra money to get him down to St Mary’s.

Meanwhile, Akpom, who switched allegiance to Nigeria in 2019 but was unable to play for the Super Eagles owing to a high number of forwards at the time, will be bombarded with phone calls if he maintains his high-level performance.

Middlesbrough has already activated the 12 month extension clause, so he will be at Middlesbrough until 2024 with further contract talks already ongoing.
