It is only a matter of time before the most expensive transfer in the history of Lorient is completed
Super Eagles striker Teremas ‘Terem’ Moffi is close to completing his transfer from FC Lorient to OGC Nice as he has decided to stay put in France despite tangible interest from abroad.
According to L’Équipe, Terem Moffi completed a medical check-up at OGC Nice on Monday and will sign a contract with the club, today, Tuesday, January 31st – this winter’s transfer deadline day.
Moffi will ink a four-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him with Nice until the summer of 2027.
It is believed that Nice were able to beat other interested suitors to Moffi’s signature after tabling an offer of 25 million euros and another five million in bonuses – the club’s seventh bid – which Lorient accepted.
That transfer fee will be the highest Nice ever paid to sign a player while it would also be the most expensive sale in Lorient history.
West Ham and Southampton were among the Premier League clubs who had multiple offers rejected by Lorient for Moffi.
Moffi has been superb for Lorient since joining from Kortrijk in 2020, scoring 34 Ligue 1 goals – the third most of any Nigerian in the competition.
