Chido Obi Martins, who joined Manchester United from Arsenal last year, is eligible to don the colours of the Super Eagles of Nigeria…

INEOS-owned Ligue 1 club OGC Nice are in talks to sign Chidozie “Chido” Obi-Martin for a move from Manchester United this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 17-year-old joined Manchester United from Arsenal last summer and could be on his way out of Old Trafford on a season-long loan.

If completed, the move would see the Danish-Nigerian teenager link up with Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi in France.

Obi from Arsenal to Manchester United

Obi-Martin joined Manchester United in September 2024 after rejecting a professional contract at Arsenal, despite strong interest from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

The Danish-born forward of Nigerian descent quickly impressed at United’s academy, scoring a hat-trick on his U18 debut and earning a first-team debut in February 2025 against Tottenham Hotspur.

Before leaving Arsenal, he scored an incredible 32 goals in 18 U18 Premier League matches, including ten against Liverpool’s U16s and seven against Norwich City.

How is the Man Utd Talent Linked to Nigeria?

Born in Denmark to Nigerian parents, Obi-Martin is eligible to play for Denmark, Nigeria, or England.

He has represented Denmark extensively at youth level, netting 12 goals in 19 appearances for their U17 team, but his Nigerian heritage keeps the option open for a future Super Eagles call-up.

Meanwhile, since Ineos owns the two clubs, there are high chances for inter-club relations. So, should the deal materialise, the young attacker could create a notable Nigerian connection in Nice's frontline alongside Moffi.
