The Nigerian attacker was at it again for La Dea, but his effort was not enough for his side

Super Eagles Ademola Lookman scored for Atalanta in their first mid-season friendly game against Eintracht Frankfurt, but his goal was insufficient for La Dea, as they succumbed to a penalty shoot-out loss to the reigning Europa League Champions.

Atalanta returned to action in a friendly fixture against German side Eintracht Frankfurt for the first time since the 13th of November. La Dea boss Gian Pero Gasperini named a strong lineup for the fixture, and Nigeria international Lookman got a starting shirt.

Lookman has been great for Atalanta this season, scoring seven goals in 15 Serie A appearances, and the Nigerian striker was looking to hit the ground running on his return to action.

The 25-year-old forward did not need to wait for long to get on the scoreboard. Hojlund set up Lookman who was free in the box, and the Nigerian finished with aplomb from close range to give Atalanta a one-goal lead.

Unfortunately for Atalanta, Lucas Alario equalized for Eintracht Frankfurt just before halftime.

Early in the second half, Alario struck again, converting a penalty in the 47th minute to make it 2-1 for the Europa League champions.

La Dea did not take much time before they got their equalizer, and Lookman ran the show. The Super Eagles star turned provider for Hojlund and to draw level for his side.

Lookman could have scored the winner for Atalanta late on, but his shot only managed to clip the bar.

Both teams saw out the game, and it went into penalties. Unfortunately, Atalanta lost 4-3 in the shootout.
