The Nigerian international, Alex Iwobi, appeals to Everton supporters to back Frank Lampard despite their current relegation situation.

Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi, pleads with Everton fans to back Frank Lampard as they begin their post-World Cup matches.

The Nigerian attacker believes the former Chelsea star can succeed for the Blues despite being in the danger zone.

Prior to the World Cup break, the Merseyside club lost three straight matches in all competitions, and it now occupies the 17th spot in the Premier League standings.

The Toffees only amassed 14 points in the EPL overall when the league took a break on November 12.

This outcome has raised concerns about Everton’s chances of avoiding relegation in the second half of the season and rumours concerning Lampard’s employment.

The 26-year-old has emphasized the manager’s dedication and expressed confidence in his capacity to perform for the Blues when their match schedule resumes after the World Cup competition.

The Nigerian, while speaking to Sky Sports, acknowledge the fans support for the team

“Especially last season, the fans played a big part in us staying up,” he said.

“They were coming to our training ground with flares and trying to motivate us for each game.

“I didn’t understand why it was called the ‘People’s Club’ until literally last season and I’ve seen the effect they can have on the team.” he added.

The ex-Arsenal player, who was given a fair opportunity to establish himself in the club by Lampard after his transfer from the Emirate Stadium, asks the supporters to back the manager.

“I say stick by him because not just me but the [other] players appreciate what he’s doing and what he’s done, not just in his career but what he’s doing for the club right now.

“He’s a hard-working man and he’s always putting his job first, even before his family! He does work really hard and he’s a very understanding man, so stick by him.” he said.

When the season campaign resumes, Everton will take on bottom club Wolves, obstinate Brighton, and reigning EPL champion Manchester City.
