Former Enyimba, Sunshine Stars, and Nasarawa United striker Chinedu Udechukwu died on Wednesday after complaining of a headache.

Former Enyimba and Sunshine Stars forward, Chinedu Udechukwu, dies in Jos.

Reports state that the striker had a bad headache on Wednesday before passing away.

Through their social media accounts, the Nigeria Professional Football League teams Nasarawa United and Sunshine Stars have expressed their sorrow at the passing of their former player.

The Forward spent the 2019–20 season with Sunshine FC before moving on to Nasarawa United for an unspecified transfer fee.

However, Chinedu participated in the NPFL with Nasarawa United last year until his agreement with the team ended at the conclusion of the campaign.

Sunshine stars expressed their sympathies on their platform, saying:

“We are in a mourning state following the death of our former player, Chinedu Udechukwu who reportedly slumped in Jos on Wednesday.

“The bullish striker joined us mid-2019/20 & played with the Club through the better part of 2020/21 season before joining Nasarawa Utd subsequently.”

Eche Amos, the media officer for Nasarawa United noted the player as a prospect with big aspirations in a statement that was cited by Pulse.

“Edu, as he was fondly called, was a young man full of life and great dreams. He was also a phenomenal figure as far as club football is concerned in Nigeria having also played for the likes of two-time CAF Champions League winners, Enyimba FC of Aba; Katsina United FC and Sunshine Stars FC of Akure.

“While we pray for the repose of his soul in heaven, we send our deepest condolences to his immediate family, his loved ones, team and playmates, the Nigeria Football Federation as well as the football fraternity in the Country,” he wrote.
