Portugal have some of the best players in the World, but Peseiro believes that the Super Eagles can match them

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro is confident of Nigeria’s chances when they square off against Portugal on Thursday.

Portugal’s friendly game with Nigeria at the Estadio Jose Alvalade is their only Pre-World Cup fixture before the Mundial which kicks off on the 17th of November.

The Selecao fans would be expecting a good outing for their side before they leave for Qatar, as earlier reports confirmed that the tickets for the fixture were already sold out.

The Super Eagles missed out on a ticket to Qatar after an aggregate loss to Ghana in March this year. But Peseiro believes his lads can do better, and they have enough quality to defeat Portugal on their home turf.

“Sincerely, I am wishing that this is a FIFA World Cup group stage match, because I tell you, that is the level at which Nigeria should be playing.

“Even though that is not the case, our objective is to go out there and win,” Peserio said at the pre-match presser as per Tobi Adepoju.

“It is good that we are playing big teams. I am enamored by that because this is good for the team.

“It will sharpen the team to achieve our goal of winning the next Africa Cup of Nations. We also have the opportunity to test a number of players.”

Embattled Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo could miss the tie, as he missed Wednesday’s training session.

Still, the Portuguese have enough in their Arsenal to trouble Nigeria. Nevertheless, Peseiro would hope that his lads bring their best to the fore.
