The Nigerian midfielder is a versatile player, but his boss has identified his most effective position
Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhüttl has revealed that Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo functions better when he operates from the attacking midfield position.
Aribo sealed a €7million transfer from Rangers in the summer, and he has settled in nicely at the club.
During his time at Rangers, Aribo switched roles seamlessly. The 26-year-old operated in central midfield, attacking midfield, and even played as a striker toward the end of his stay at Ibrox.
Since he arrived at St. Mary’s, Aribo has featured prominently in attacking midfield. The Super Eagles midfielder has made 13 appearances for the Saints, and he has two goals to his name.
Southampton gaffer Hasenhüttl has explained the reason for his decision.
“I think we have found a position for him(Aribo) where he can create things, he has some really good moves around the box,” The German tactician said as per FPL News.
Aribo has made six consecutive starts for Southampton, and he looks to be blending well. However, he has recorded just one goal. He would look to add goal contribution to his game to push Southampton higher up the table.
