Official: Ademola Lookman wins first Atalanta award

The Nigerian international has been sensational for La Dea and his contribution has now been rewarded

Atalanta Bergamasco Calcio have named Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman as the club’s Player of the Month of October.

Lookman beats Colombian forward Luis Muriel and goalkeeper Marco Sportiello to the award.

Muriel was impressive in October, scoring a goal and providing two assists – both for Lookman.

Reserve goalkeeper Sportiello also merited his placement after excelling between the goalposts following injury to the Nerazzurri first-choice pair of gloves, Musso.

But there is little surprise that Lookman has been picked ahead of Muriel and Sportiello as Atalanta’s best player in the month under review.

Increasingly looking like the best buy of the summer, Lookman has been sensational for Atalanta since arriving from RB Leipzig in August.

October, however, is the 25-year-old’s most productive month, with the former Leicester City ace netting four goals in five matches.

Lookman got the ball rolling with the winning goal in the 1-0 defeat of Fiorentina on October 2. The Atalanta number 11 then struck the net in the 2-2 draw at Udinese, the 2-1 victory over Sassuolo, and the 2-0 win away to Empoli.

Lookman has already kicked November off to a great start with Atalanta’s only goal in the 2-1 loss at home to Victor Osimhen’s Napoli.
