The Super Eagles striker suffered a hitch in September after an injury layoff, but he has since put that behind him
Former Italy striker Salvatore Bagni has praised Super Eagles striker for his heroics in Napoli’s 1-0 victory against Roma on Sunday.
Osimhen started the season in great fashion, scoring two goals in his opening two games of the season.
Unfortunately, the 23-year-old Nigerian striker suffered an injury in September, which ruled him out of action for a month.
However, Napoli did not really miss him, as Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone were in great form, scoring goals aplenty.
Osimhen returned to action two weeks ago in Napoli’s clash against Ajax. The Nigerian returned in style scoring a goal on his return despite playing just 45 minutes.
Osimhen has scored in three consecutive games for the Partenopeans.
His strike against Roma on Sunday came up clutch for Napoli, as it sealed the victory for the Naples kings.
Osimhen displayed his pace, and physical strength to shoo away Roma defender Chris Smalling before he fired a wicked shot past Rui Patricio in the Roma goal despite being in a tight angle.
Former Italy international Bagni was impressed with Osimhen’s display, and he believes that the Nigerian striker is the only Napoli player capable of scoring that type of goal.
“Osimhen has improved for me in managing the 90 minutes,” Bagni told Napoli Magazine.
“Victor is not just depth and he is not just speed. The goal against Roma can only do it Osimhen.
“There Victor steals Smalling’s time and neither Raspadori nor Simeone can do that, then for me, that shot is all instinct.”
Napoli are at their best at the moment. The Partenopeans have not lost a game this season. Osimhen would look to build on his great form and continue banging in the goals.
