Destiny Udogie’s agent Stefano Antonelli has revealed that Tottenham beat Inter Milan and Juventus to the signing his 19-year-old client because they were the only club that were willing to meet Udinese’s price.
Udogie had a great campaign for Udinese last season. The Italy-born left-back recorded five goals and three assists in 35 appearances for the Bianconeri.
His brilliant displays caught the eye of some of the top sides in Europe, especially in Italy. Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Juventus were all linked to the former Hellas Verona man.
However, it was Premier League side Tottenham who succeeded in procuring Udogie’s services albeit he would spend this season on loan at Udinese.
Antonelli, who is Udogie’s agent has admitted that Inter Milan and Juventus were in serious talks to sign the Super Eagles-eligible man, but they could not afford Udinese’s asking price.
“Inter and Juventus wanted to sign him(Udogie),” Antonelli said as per Fabrizio Romano.
“However, Tottenham had decided to pay €20m plus €6m add-ons so it was not possible for other clubs
“Spurs wanted him to stay in Italy on loan, it’s part of the strategy”.
Udogie has started this season on fire, scoring two goals in five games for Udinese. And With what the youngster has shown in the last two years, it is clear that Tottenham have gotten a gem.
Udogie plays for Italy, but he is eligible to play for Nigeria because of his parent.
