Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Udinese on a deal for Italy-Nigerian youngster
Destiny Udogie will become a Tottenham player in a matter of days as a €20m agreement with his club has been reached.
Udogie had agreed personal terms with Tottenham before his club settled for a transfer fee and agreement.
Fabio Paratici, Spurs’ Managing Director ensured the deal was in place as Udogie had become one of Italian football’s hottest properties just at just 19.
The youngster is also being looked at for a potential call-up to the Italian national team after his breakout season last year.
Tottenham have also agreed to leave him at Udinese where he will be on loan for the next one year till the end of the 2022/23 season.
Who is Destiny Udogie?
Udogie enjoyed his breakout season just a while ago and is still an unknown player to many football fans.
Born in Verona to Nigerian parents, the player who cut his teeth at Hellas Verona is capable of playing as a left back or a left wing-back.
He had his breakout season in the 2021/22 season, contributing eight goals – five goals, three assists in thirty five games.
He’s one of Italy’s most highly-rated youngsters having been invited to a 2-day camping for possibles for the Italian national team by manager, Roberto Mancini.
The player’s contribution last season in the Serie A was only behind Christian Perisic of wing backs in the league. The Croatian is coincidentally now in Tottenham too.
Which country is Udogie playing for?
Udogie was born in Italy and has represented them at every level from U-16 to U-20 levels.
He also looks forward to getting a senior invitation as he feels more Italian than Nigerian.
Udogie said he hopes to walks in the footsteps of players like Angelo Ogbonna who chose to represent the Azzurris over the Super Eagles.
“I will do everything to make myself appreciated by the (Italian) coach, it is a goal that I particularly care about,” the player had said about his international future.
