The Nigerian forward just sealed a move away from the Czech 1. Liga in January, but he has returned for another stint
Super Eagles hopeful Fortune Bassey has joined six-time Czech 1. Liga champions Viktoria Plzen on a season-long loan.
Bassey left Nigerian shores for the Czech Republic in 2018. And since then, he only featured in the Czech league, featuring for the Bohemians youth team, Olympia, Usti and Labem, Vlasim, and Ceske Budejovice.
The 23-year-old striker left Czech football earlier this year, after Hungarian giants Ferencvaros paid Ceske Budejovice €1.5million for his services.
Since his switch, Bassey made 16 appearances for Ferencvaros, registering four goals.
However, the Benin City-born attacker has returned to familiar territory, as Viktoria Plzen have confirmed that they have secured Bassey’s services for the remainder of the 2022/23 season, with an option to buy.
For Bassey, it is a return to familiar and favorable territory. During his time in Czech Republic, he scored 46 goals in 89 appearances.
He would look to help his new side defend their trophy, as Slavia Prague and Sparta Prague would capitalize on any hiccups.
He would also look to post performances that would earn him a maiden Super Eagles call-up.
