Napoli boss, Luciano Spalletti has spoken on his two attackers and how he hopes to deploy them this season
Giovane Simeone joined Napoli on loan from Chievo and his new boss believes he has enough qualities to challenge for a place in the team.
Spalletti was asked about the deployment of Osimhen and Simeone in a Press Conference ahead of Napoli’s game against Monza on Sunday.
The former AS Roma manager said the Argentine forward like Osimhen is a top striker and has worked hard for himself to get to his current level.
While he didn’t rule out using both players at the same time, he said such actions will be determined by how connected both players are.
“The coexistence of both attackers will be determined by what they show me, based on what they will give, and we will evaluate if it will be possible to make them play together,” Spalletti said.
“In my opinion it does not matter if they play together, but if you win the game. To win, to have team balance.
“For me Simeone is a top striker, like Victor, but Simeone is someone who has made the road to get here all by himself, he is one who has impressed me immediately since I saw him. He sure he has the personality to make himself available. When he decided to come here he knew that Osimhen was there and he did everything to come, he didn’t want to hear about other teams and he knew about Osimhen.
“He’s a hard worker, even in the dirt for his teammates, as well as knowing how to score and that’s enough for me.”
How did Osimhen start the season?
Osimhen started the season with a goal and an assist against Chievo and is looking to break his previous numbers with Napoli barring any unforeseen injuries.
The Nigerian forward now contends with Simeone, the son of Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone for a starting berth at Napoli but has enough to keep his place in the team.
