After their failed pursuit of Umar Sadiq, Sevilla have turned their attention to another Nigerian forward
In terms of style and frame, there are various similarities between Sadiq and Paul Onuachu and this explains the direction Sevilla are looking at.
Unable to get Sadiq, Sevilla are believed to have turned their attention to Onuachu, who despite several reported interests away from Genk, is still in the Belgian Pro League.
Sadiq, currently with Almeria is seeking an exit from the Andalusian club, albeit on a friendly note. He has moved out of his house, with a move to Getafe or Villarreal strongly on the cards.
Onuachu has scored 56 league goals in the last two seasons in Belgium and is one of the most revered players in the league.
Genk, however are rebuilding and will use some good returns on the Nigerian.
Already, the Limburger have sold key players in Kristian Thorstvedt to Sassuolo, Junya Ito to Reims, Onuachu’s compatriot, Cyriel Dessers to Cremonese and Jhon Lucumi to Bologna.
Genk coach Wouter Vrancken isn’t ruling out a move away from the club and said the player is still focused on his recovery.
“Paul is taking steps and continues to push. I hope he will be back soon. You cannot rule out that he will leave this summer,” the Belgian coach said.
