The Super Eagles star was terrific for his side, but his brilliance was not enough to give Lorient the important three points
Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi scored a brace for Lorient, but his efforts were insufficient, as they fell to a 5-2 defeat at Lens.
Moffi was brilliant for Lorient over the weekend, scoring a brace in their 2-1 victory over Clermont, and he looked to replicate that performance again for his side to push them over the line away at Lens.
The night did not start well for Lorient, as Florian Sotoca and Wesley Said scored to give Lens a two-goal lead before the hour mark.
However, Moffi showed great composure and pulled one back for Les Merlus just before halftime to give them a lifeline.
Lorient started the second half on a good note, and within five minutes, they restored parity. Django Outtara played a perfectly measured pass into the path of Moffi, who sent the ball into the bottom right of the net, leaving Samba Brice helpless in the Lens goal.
Unfortunately, Lorient lost their heads and succumbed to Lens’ deadly frontline. Goals from Abdul Samed, Sotoca, and Lois Openda ensured that the home side secured all three points with a 5-2 victory.
The loss put a halt to Lorient’s unbeaten start to the season. Les Merlus now sit seventh on the Ligue 1 table.
