The Bundesliga is yet to see the best of its latest Nigerian import, but the former Mainz manager says the signs show it is only a matter of time
Hertha Berlin SC manager Sandro Schwarz has hailed Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke as a fantastic dribbler who can take opponents on.
Ejuke joined Hertha BSC on a season-long loan deal in July from Russian club CSKA Moscow.
But the Super Eagles forward only made the substitute bench in Hertha’s first Bundesliga game of the season last weekend.
The tasty Berlin derby was always going to have one outcome, with Union Berlin overcoming their city rivals 3-1 at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
But Hertha Berlin were already trailing by three goals before manager Sandro Schwarz introduced Ejuke to the pitch.
The Old Lady improved afterwards and even grabbed a consolation goal in the 85th minute through 24-year-old Belgian attacker Dodi Lukébakio.
Schwarz confesses that Ejuke is improving with every training session and could offer his unique qualities to Hertha’s attack in the future.
“Chidi improves every training session. Ejuke is a one-on-one player,” the former Dynamo Moscow manager told the media as per Berliner-Zeitung. “He has a good pace and a good move towards the goal.”
Ejuke and Hertha BSC will target a first league win of the campaign when they host Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend.
But the struggling Berliners will have their work cut out for them by the reigning Europa League champions.
