Okereke played alongside the highly-rated Belgian during his time in the Jupiler League, and he believes his ex-teammate would perform well in Italy
Nigerian striker David Okereke has heaped praise on new AC Milan signing Charles De Ketelaere, stating his belief that the highly-rated midfielder has what it takes to succeed in Serie A.
Okereke left Club Brugge to sign a three-year deal with newly-promoted Cremonese in July. However, he was not the only Club Brugge player who left the Belgian Jupiler League for Serie A.
AC Milan doled out €30 million for De Ketelaere who has been quite a revelation since he broke into the Club Brugge first team in 2019.
The 21-year-old took the Jupiler League by storm with his delightful technical ability. De Ketelaere has made 78 appearances in the Jupiler League, scoring 18 goals and assisting 12.
Milan swooped in for the attacking midfielder this summer, as they look to shape up nicely for their title defense next season.
Okereke, who is looking to have a smashing season at Cremona believes that AC Milan would get their full money’s worth with the procurement of De Ketelaere.
“I am very happy for Charles because he is a very good boy and an already mature player for his age,” Okereke told Gazzetta Dello Sport as per Napoli magazine.
“In the beginning, it will not be easy in Milan, both with the language and for the Italian style of play. But I’m sure he will do well.
“Even in training, Charles has always shown that he has a great ability to find spaces and provide assists even when no one sees a passage.
Okereke would be reunited with his former teammate on the 9th of November when Cremonese square off against AC Milan.
However, in the meantime, Okereke would have to surmount a tricky opening fixture against Fiorentina on Sunday.
