Super Eagles B progression to the CHAN is facing threats after a capitulation in Cape Coast
The Home-Based Super Eagles stars were on Sunday defeated by the Black Galaxies in the WAFU section of the CHAN Qualifiers.
The first half ended goalless with both teams asking questions but held off in the first half.
Bello Babatunde and Adamu Abubakar stood out in the first half as the Super Eagles dominated but failed to make a breakthrough.
Ghana however scored twice in the second half to give Nigeria an uphill task ahead of the second leg in Abuja on the 3rd of September.
The Super Eagles B got a waiver to the final stage of the competition while Ghana defeated Benin Republic.
The Black Galaxies have not made it to the CHAN since 2014 and will look to get a positive result in Abuja against a Nigerian team that’s expected to improve.
Salisu Yusuf took 22 players to Ghana while 4 players were left behind in Abuja for the second leg.
Yusuf’s side will be hopeful of securing a better scoreline in the second leg in Abuja. Nigeria also missed out on the last CHAN in Cameroon and will hope not to miss the next tournament in Algeria.
