The EFL Cup round of 32 matches kicked off on Tuesday, and most Nigerian players on parade shone like stars
Super Eagles hopeful Fisayo Dele-Bashiru registered one goal and two assists for Sheffield Wednesday in their 3-0 victory over Rochdale in the round of 32 of the EFL Cup.
The English second Cup competition took center stage on Tuesday, with fixtures all around the country. Nigerian players were also on parade, and most of them did well for their teams, helping their sides to victory.
At Hillsborough, it was a magical night for Dele Bashiru, as he provided a goal and two assists to help Sheffield Wednesday defeat Rochdale
The 21-year-old forward assisted Jaden Brown’s opener in the 23rd minute. Then Dele-Bashiru combined well with Brown for the second, scoring a powerful belter that left Cieran Slicker helpless in the Rochdale goalposts.
Dele-Bashiru was not done yet, as he provided another assist for Nigeria-eligible midfielder Dennis Adeniran to make it 3-0 before halftime.
Sheffield Wednesday controlled the second half, but they took their feet off the gas. Dele-Bashiru was hauled off for George Byers in the 70th minute.
The Owls kept a good defense and saw out the 3-0 victory.
