Dennis impresses in Nott. Forest debut, Iwobi maintains strong streak

Various Super Eagles players were called to action in English League Cup fixtures on Tuesday

Emmanuel Dennis made his first Nottingham Forest start on Tuesday as he debuted in a 3-0 victory against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.

Dennis assisted Ryan Yates’ goal in the 18th minute to make an impressive start to his career with the Reds.

The former Watford star was substituted for his compatriot, Taiwo Awoniyi with 15 minutes to go and the former Union Berlin star played a hand in the third goal of the game.

Both Nigerian stars had good displays as The Reds secured a place in the third round of the League Cup.

Alex Iwobi was again in the mood as Everton defeated Fleetwood Town 1-0 courtesy of goal by Demarai Gray.

Iwobi impressed in the game as he racked up superior numbers and grabbed the assist for the only goal of the game. The rejuvenated former Arsenal midfielder played four key passes in the game, won seven of the nine duels he attempted, completed three of his four dribbles, made a clearance and won three tackles.

Frank Onyeka also featured in Brentford’s 2-0 defeat of Colchester as he was cautioned in his first start of the season.

In Leicester’s penalty win against Stockport, Kelechi Iheanacho featured for the entire duration of the game while Joe Aribo also came in as a second half substitute in Southampton’s 3-0 defeat of Cambridge United.

Maduka Okoye was in goal for Watford as they lost 2-0 at Vicarage Road to MK Dons. William Troost-Ekong also featured in the game.

West Brom also lost 1-0 to Derby County with Semi Ajayi not listed for the Hawthorns in their second round Carabao Cup loss to the Rams.
