The Belgian champions are looking for replacements after sanctioning the departure of several important key players
Talented Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika has emerged as a transfer target for Belgian giants Club Brugge, per an HLN report.
Presently a key figure at Danish side FC Midtjylland, Onyedika is one of Nigeria’s most sought-after youngsters in Europe.
The FC Ebedei academy product was named the ‘Promise of the Year’ in the Danish top flight last season.
Club Brugge are long-time admirers of Onyedika, with the top officials of the reigning Jupiler League champions seeing the versatile 21-year-old Nigerian midfielder as an ideal number six.
Onyedika is also reportedly on the radar of Italian Serie A champions AC Milan.
FC Midtjylland are even believed to have rejected an offer of €4 million from AC Milan for Onyedika.
Still, I Rossoneri remain the leading candidate for the signature of the Super Eagles hopeful.
Recent reports from Italy suggest that AC Milan have not given up their chase for the midfielder.
Per La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tutto Mercato Web), AC Milan will hope introducing bonus and percentage on future sale would convince Midtjylland to reduce their €10 million asking price for Onyedika.
The success of that operation, however, depends on Milan getting their cut from Lyon’s imminent sale of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta to West Ham.
Paqueta, who left Milan for France two years ago, is on the verge of a €40 million move to the Premier League.
Milan could make as much as six million euros from that deal due to a percentage on future sale clause included in the €20 million deal that took him to Lyon in 2020.
Able to play as a defensive midfielder, centre-back, and central midfielder, Onyedika has an estimated market value of €5 million and is contracted to FCM until June 2026.
