Calvin had an outstanding campaign at Ibrox last summer, and the former Aberdeen star believes the Gers should demand a substantial fee before letting him go
Former Scotland boss Alex Mcleish believes Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey is quality, and Rangers should demand £25million(₦13.1billion) from any club that is interested in him.
Bassey had a stellar campaign with the Gers last season. The 22-year-old made 50 appearances for Rangers last season. However, he climaxed with man-of-the-match performances in the Europa League final and the Scottish Cup final.
His displays have not gone unnoticed, as he has attracted a lot of interest from abroad with Aston Villa having the strongest links. Nonetheless, there has been no report of a confirmed bid.
Alex Mcleish played in Aberdeen for 16 years, and he had 77 caps for Scotland. The 63-year-old also coached Rangers, winning seven trophies with the club.
Mcleish believes Bassey is an excellent player, and Rangers should demand at least £25million(₦13.1billion) from any suitor.
“I would say Bassey can command £25million”, Mcleish said as per STV Sports.
“In the beginning when I saw Bassey I wasn’t sure if he was a left full-back, wing-back, center-back and he’s been versatile enough to play in all three positions.
“I really enjoyed his cup final performance and that’s made me see why there’s so much attention being paid to him at the moment.”
Bassey has shown great improvement in his two years at Ibrox, and a move to a better and more competitive league could do his career a great deal of good.
