The Villains are pumping a lot of money into refurbishing their squad, and the Super Eagles star could be on his way there very soon
Manchester City legend Richard Dunne has urged Aston Villa to sign Super Eagles star Emmanuel Dennis from Watford this summer.
Dennis had a spectacular season at Vicarage Road last season, scoring ten goals and assisting six in 33 Premier League appearances. However, his brilliance amounted to naught, as the Hornets were relegated, finishing with just 23 points.
Watford signed the 24-year-old from Club Brugge for €4million last summer, but the Hornets would be willing to cash in on Dennis this summer as they look to shed some financial burden in preparation for life in the Championship.
Watford would demand €20million for their hitman, which is a reasonable price considering Dennis’ exploits last season.
Dunne, who played for Manchester City for over ten years and captained the team, is aware of the Dennis situation and has urged Aston Villa to lure the former Club Brugge man to Villa Park.
“I’m sure clubs will start looking at Tarkowski from Burnley and Dennis from Watford now they have gone down. They would benefit a few teams in Villa’s area,” Dunnes told Birmingham mail.
“They need another attacking player to give them more options up top and another central midfielder. They aren’t crying out for someone in any position, but they are looking for that next level of player to push them up the league. They have a decent strong squad.”
Aston Villa have already been linked to Dennis, with coach Steven Gerrard looking to improve his team for next season. The addition of the Super Eagles star could provide an extra edge for the Villains in attack.
