The Super Eagles may face Ghana again as yet another Jollof derby takes shape, although, it’s not yet cast in stone
Regional draws for the CHAN qualifiers emerged today with the Nigerian team drawn to face either Ghana or Benin Republic.
CHAN, meant for Super Eagles players based in Nigeria has seen Nigeria and other West African teams drawn in different zones.
The seeding system was a product of performances in the last three CHAN Championships, with Ghana and Benin deemed the poorest in the last three editions and have to start from the second round.
Both sides will trade tackles and the winner will meet Nigeria.
A total of 46 teams were considered for the continent-wide draws with just 15 places up for grabs. There will be 18 teams at the tournament, an increase of two teams from the previous editions, while three teams are already in the tournament.
There will be five groups according to CAF, with three of them having four teams each, while two groups will have three teams.
Hosts Algeria, defending champions Morocco and Libya are all guaranteed places at the tournament with the remaining 15 slots to be battled for by others.
