Super Eagles Europe Watch: Sanusi helpless as Porto lose 58-game unbeaten run; Onyedika, Ezeh shine

Action resumed in some European leagues, and it was mixed fortunes for some Nigerian stars

Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika had another brilliant outing for Danish giants Midtjylland, as he assisted Anders Dreyer’s goal, which secured a 3-1 victory for the Wolves at Brondby.

Midtjylland gained an early advantage after Andreas Maxso was issued a red card in the eighth minute. However, despite being a man down, Brondby took the lead in the 28th minute through Simon Hedlund.

Nonetheless, the former Danish champions hit back through Evander, Gustav Isaksen, and Dreyer to cement a 3-1 victory.

Onyedika had a brilliant display in the middle of the park with 65 touches, 86 percent pass accuracy and four tackles.

Meanwhile, in the Turkish second division, Francis Ezeh scored the fourth for Tuzlaspor in their 4-1 victory against Adanaspor.

Youssef Ait Bennasser restored parity for Adanaspor after Orhan Cekdar put Tuzlaspor ahead in the fifth minute. But Ezeh scored after Kadeem Harris’ brace to give his side a 4-1 victory.

Ezeh’s goal takes his goal tally to seven in eleven league games this season.

Elsewhere in the Portuguese top-flight, Porto’s league victory celebrations were postponed after they suffered a 1-0 loss at Braga.

Ricardo Horta put the home side in front in the 54th minute. In search of goals, coach Conceicao introduced Sanusi for Wendell in the 63rd minute. But the Super Eagles star was helpless, as Horta’s goal turned out to be the decider.

The loss brought an end to Porto’s domestic 58-game unbeaten run. They face Vizela next, and a victory would ensure a record 30th league triumph.
