The Super Eagles star is fast becoming the king of the Europa Conference League
Feyenoord hitman Cyriel Dessers scored two goals in his side’s 3-1 victory against Slavia Prague, which all but sealed Feyenoord’s qualification to the Semifinals with a 6-4 aggregate victory.
The Red and Whites traveled to the Czech Republic for the second leg of their Europa Conference League quarterfinal tie after playing a 3-3 draw against Slavia Prague in the first leg last week.
Dessers did not start for Feyenoord last week, but in the second leg, coach Arne Slot gave him enough time to shine.
Before both teams could settle into the game, the Genk loanee showed great awareness as he capitalised on a mistake from the Slavia Prague defense and fired home to make it 1-0 after just two minutes of play.
However, Slavia Prague recollected themselves and hit back twelve minutes later through Ibrahim Traore.
There were chances at either end, but both teams failed to score in the first half. Yira Sor and Peter Olayinka could have put Slavia Prague ahead, but they were profligate in front of goal.
Feyenoord started the second half on top, and within 14 minutes after the restart, Dessers struck again after a mistake from Slavia Prague goalkeeper Ales Mandous.
The game was end to end, with chances falling to both teams. However, it was Feyenoord who struck again through Luis Sinisterra to make it 3-1.
Dessers could have increased his side’s lead in the 81st minute, but Mandous was on hand to parry away.
The Red and whites saw out the lead to seal a sweet 6-4 victory against the Czech champions. Feyenoord will face Marseille in the semifinals.
