The Super Eagles striker has been outstanding this season, but his future still hangs in the balance
Belgian Jupiler League side Genk have informed Feyenoord that they would have to cough out 4billion euros (₦1.7billion) if they want to secure the services of Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers on a permanent basis.
Dessers struggled to get playing time at Cegeka Arena last season. The 27-year-old was considered as a backup to compatriot Paul Onuachu. However, he opted to leave Belgium for Dutch football, joining Feyenoord on a season-long loan deal last summer.
Since Dessers arrived at De Kuip, he has had a brilliant time in the Netherlands. The former Utrecht man has scored 13 goals and assisted four in 34 appearances, most of which have been from the bench.
Feyenoord has been impressed with the Nigeria international, and they have shown interest in retaining him, albeit permanently.
Nonetheless, Genk are preparing for life after Onuachu as the Super Eagles star could leave this summer. And even though Dessers is in Genk’s plans for the future, Het Laatste Nieuws reports that they have informed Feyenoord that they would only budge if they receive offers from 4million euros for the 27-year-old.
However, a deal may not materialise, as Feyenoord have stated that they would not be able to meet the valuation of the player.
