Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavone has invited Lorient midfielder, Innocent Bonke as replacement for the injured Wilfred Ndidi ahead of Nigeria’s matches against Ghana.
The decision by the Nigerian coach was announced on Sunday after Ndidi picked up a medial ligament injury against Rennes in the Europa Conference League.
Bonke was in action for Nigeria against Cape Verde in Praia in the early stages of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers, replacing Ndidi at the time also.
He’s had decent performances since he got to the French Ligue 1 from Swedish Allvenskan side FF Malmo.
Nigerian fans had been wary of Ndidi’s injury and called for a decent replacement for the former Genk midfielder.
Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers had announced that Ndidi will be out for a few weeks with the injury expected to last between 3 weeks to a month, automatically ruling Ndidi out of the games against Ghana.
Nigeria will face the Black Stars on Friday, March 25th in Kumasi before hosting their arch rivals in Abuja on the 29th.
