Lookman marks Nigeria switch with a goal but Leicester City’s poor Premier League form continue

Three Nigerian stars were in action for Leicester City, but they were unable to help the Foxes end their poor domestic run

Nigerian star Ademola scored the Foxes' only goal, while Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi put up decent performances as Leicester City lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux.

The Foxes returned to Premier League action after their fantastic midweek display against Randers in the Europa Conference League.

Leicester City had not won a league game since the 28th of December last year, but they hoped to carry the momentum from their previous match to dispatch Bruno Lage's lads.

The game started pretty even, with both teams cancelling each other. However, it did not take time for the Foxes to crack, as Ruben Neves opened the scoring after a decisive strike from outside the box.

Leicester City began to play better football after they went a goal down. Five minutes before the break, they got rewarded as a beautiful piece of attacking football set up Nigerian star Lookman who scored with a sliding finish. His first goal since he switched allegiance from England to Nigeria.

The second half started with the FA Cup champions keeping more of the ball and trying to carve out the stingy Wolverhampton defence.

Unfortunately for Leicester City, they conceded a goal against the run of play, as Podence's strike from outside the box found its way beyond Kasper Schmeichel to make it 2-1.

Lookman had an excellent game. He was the major livewire for Leicester City, and most of their attacks went through his flank.

Ndidi had a decent game with an 82 per cent pass accuracy, one clearance, and four duels won.

Iheanacho was introduced into the game in the 73rd minute, but he struggled to make any impact.

The stubborn Wolves defence kept it tight and refused to open spaces as they held out for a 2-1 victory despite a late surge from the Foxes.

Lookman’s current form speaks for an invitation to Super Eagles camp in March. Some of regular SE players are not doing good enough. Either they are substituted or on the bench. That’s not good. We have a playoffs at hand next month. Instead of going forward we are going backwards. This is going to be a challenge
