The 25-year-old played for the entire duration of the games as the Toffees bounced back from their loss at Selhurst Park with a hard-fought point at Stamford Bridge
Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi delivered an impressive shift as injury-hit Everton dealt a blow to Chelsea’s title hopes after both teams played out a 1-1 draw in their Premier League clash Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
Everton went into the game on the back of a 3-1 loss at Crystal Palace, with Iwobi not involved. However, due to the high number of injuries in their squad, he featured from start to finish against Thomas Tuchel’s men.
Iwobi played his part, winning five duels, while he also made three tackles and one interception. Everton held their own against the Champions League winners, although they had their keeper Jordan Pickford to thank, who made six saves in the first half alone.
Pickford denied Chelsea on numerous occasions in the first half, but he could not keep out Mason Mount’s composed finish in the 70th minute.
However, Jarrad Branthwaite’s strike four minutes later restored parity for Rafael Benitez’s men to secure a point for the Toffees.
