“He has to believe he’s very good” – Xisco Munoz expects more from struggling Nigerian star

in La Liga, News, NewsNow, Nigeria

The former Watford manager has overseen an upturn in fortunes for Huesca, and he is looking to extract the best from the club's Nigerian import

Huesca SD head coach Francisco ‘Xisco' Muñoz is convinced of the quality of Kelechi Nwakali and has charged the Nigerian youngster to have faith in himself to fulfill his potential.

Since taking the reins of leadership at the lower division side, Munoz has overseen three victories, four draws, and a single loss, including the 3-2 home triumph over Real Valladolid at the weekend.

Nwakali was impressive during that clash at the Estadio El Alcoraz, featuring from start to finish for only the second time this season.

The former Nigerian youth international has, however, made 16 league appearances for the Azulgranas without scoring a goal.

In the second half of last season, Nwakali was a revelation on loan at Alcorcon, netting four goals in 18 Segunda Division games.

More is expected from the former Arsenal signing, who was highly sought after in the summer. And his club boss is urging him to believe in himself and embrace more responsibilities to attain his maximum potential.

“Nwakali has to believe that he is very good,” the former Watford manager said, as per AS.

“He has to take more responsibility and feelings and has to balance in what we ask of him. He has it in him and has the capacity to offer the offensive game we need.”

Nwakali has been at Huesca since 2019 after ending his three-year association with Arsenal.

The Diamond Football Academy product came to the limelight after captaining the Golden Eaglets to the 2015 U-17 World Cup title, winning the Golden Ball Award along the way.
