The Super Eagles vice-captain delivered a brilliant shift at the back, although it was not enough to prevent the Hornets from a loss
William Troost-Ekong was one of Watford’s best players on Saturday afternoon, but his performance was not enough to stop Watford a 1-0 loss at Leeds United.
The Nigerian international warmed up for the clash against the Central African Republic with an assured performance at the back for the Hornets.
Ekong, who played for the entire duration of the game, made five clearances, two interceptions and one tackle from his centre-back position. The former Udinese man even managed to contribute to the attack with one key pass.
His compatriot, Emmanuel Dennis, also played for the entire duration of the match but could not add to his two goals this season.
However, despite Ekong’s display, Watford suffered their fourth defeat in the Premier League this season. The Hornets were beaten by an 18th-minute strike from Deigo Llorente as Leeds claimed their first three points of the season.
