Former Scotland captain warns Rangers about Premier League interest in Aribo

The Nigerian midfielder has been massive for the Gers since he moved from Charlton, and he seems to be gaining a lot of attention

Former Scotland Captain Barry Ferguson has admonished Rangers to watch out for potential Premier League interests for Super Eagles star Joe Aribo.

Aribo has been one of the standout performers from Rangers since he joined from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2019.

He played a massive role in Rangers’ Scottish Premiership title, which they achieved with an unbeaten record last season.

Being under the tutelage of one of the greatest midfielders in football history – Steven Gerrard has rubbed off on Aribo as he has steadily continued to improve at the Gers.

There were reports that some Premier League clubs were monitoring Aribo during the last transfer window, but none of those talks materialised.

But Ferguson, who is a legend at Rangers, believes that the Gers should still be wary of interest from the Premier League.

“I just feel Joe Aribo is getting better and better with each game I see,” Ferguson told Go radio as per football fantastic.

“A lot of people talk about Ryan Kent and [Alfredo] Morelos.

“I think Aribo is one player a lot of clubs down south will be looking closely at.”

Aribo’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season, and Rangers could find themselves in a tight position if they don’t act fast to tie down the 25-year-old to another deal.
