The two Super Eagles stars won’t be available when the Foxes take to the pitch against the Polish side on Thursday evening
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi will miss the team’s Europa League clash against Legia Warsaw on Thursday night.
The Foxes will hope to secure their first win in the competition this season when they take on the Polish side at the Marshall Józef Piłsudski’s Municipal Stadium of Legia Warsaw.
However, they will have to do it without their Nigerian imports. Ndidi will miss the encounter after receiving a red card in the 2-2 draw against Napoli, and Rodgers admits he would be a big miss.
“It’s impossible to find what we have in Wilf,” Rodgers told the media as per LCFC website. “We have good players, but specifically the job he does in breaking up the play and defending in the box, he’s irreplaceable, but we have lots of good players.
“You have to find a way. Earlier on in the season, we brought [Boubakary] Soumaré into the squad because he gives us that physicality. Wilf’s a fabulous player, and hopefully, he’s okay for the weekend.”
While Ndidi will be absent because of disciplinary reasons, Iheanacho will miss the encounter due to an issue with his documents.
Iheanacho was tipped to start the game, but there was a problem with his documentation at the Polish embassy, and as a result, he was not in the travelling squad.
“We’ve had an issue with Kelechi. His documentation coming into the country wasn’t suffice, so unfortunately, he isn’t available to play, which is a shame because he would have played in the game,” Rodgers added.
“He will be unavailable for the game. The paperwork didn’t allow him into the country. It’s unfortunate, but we’ll have to look into that when we get back,” he concluded.
Leicester will hope to get the three points in Warsaw, having played a 2-2 draw in their opening group game against Napoli.
