There are already arrivals at the Super Eagles camp ahead of their opening World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday evening
Five players arrived at Nigeria’s camp on Sunday evening as preparations began for the 2022 World Cup qualifier against Liberia.
The early arrivals are Everton’s Alex Iwobi, Leicester City’s duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, Kaizer Chiefs Daniel Akpeyi and Abia Warriors Adekunle Adeleke.
More players are expected on Monday, with training set to start on Tuesday. Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has invited 30 players for the clash against the Lone Stars.
The three-time African champions host Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on September 3 before their second qualifying match against Cape Verde at the Estádio Nacional de Cabo Verde four days later.
Rohr will have a full squad to train for the clash against Liberia, but he will be without seven UK players for the match against the Blue Sharks in Praia as Cape Verde is on the UK red list.
As a result, Rohr named seven extra players to replace the UK contingent in the squad for the clash against Cape Verde.
