The 22-year-old attacker was sent off in Napoli’s match against Venezia in the opening weekend of the new Italian Serie A season

Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen will learn his fate today following his red card in Napoli’s clash against Venezia on Sunday.

Osimhen was given a straight red card in the 23rd minute for shoving Daan Heymans as Napoli played a corner into the box.

It’s not an ideal start for the Nigerian international, who could now miss some key games for The Blues. Under the normal rule, a straight red card resulting from violent conduct carries a three-match suspension.

However, according to Calcio Napoli 24, the Neapolitans hope their Nigerian import will only miss one game, provided referee Gianluca Aureliano does not include violent conduct as a reason for the dismissal in his report.

Osimhen will only miss the match against Genoa this weekend if Aureliano fails to include violent conduct in his report.

But should the report state that violent conduct is the reason for his dismissal, Osimhen will miss this weekend’s encounter, but more importantly, the huge clash against Juventus after the international break.

The former Lille man will hope the former is the case as he is already set to miss five games between January and February due to Nigeria’s involvement in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
