The FIFA Coca-Cola monthly rankings have been released, and it’s not good news for the three-time African Champions

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are in danger of getting a difficult Africa Cup of Nations draw after dropping seven places in the latest FIFA monthly rankings.

Gernot Rohr’s men are now ranked 34th in the world and fifth in Africa. The FIFA rankings will determine the seedings for next year’s AFCON, and further drop could see the Super Eagles lose their Pot one seeding.

Right now, they are still among the top six seeds but would’ve been in pot two if AFCON was still a 16-team competition.

Senegal are Africa’s number one ranked team but are ranked 21st in the world. The Teranga Lions are followed by Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, who are ranked 28th, 30th and 32nd in the World, respectively.

The Super Eagles are the fifth-best African side and are 12 places ahead of Egypt, who sit in 46th place in the World.

Overall, Belgium are still the number one ranked team, followed by Brazil, who swapped spots with world champions France.

Euro 2020 runners-up England are fourth while champions Italy complete the top five. The next FIFA rankings will be released on September 16.

Once you are seeded you are seeded . It doesn’t matter what pot you go into , because all the seeded teams head a pot from 1-6
CAF also take into account past performances too.
Rankings should be taken with a pinch of salt, because as results show, anyone can beat anyone irrespective of your ranking . as far as I am concerned they only become useful when players transfer and institutions like the Home Office look at your ranking to determine the process of granting a work permit, among other criteria
