The Gers are constantly in the market for top talents and have identified one of Nigeria’s finest gems in Europe as a likely addition to their title-winning squad
Rangers are interested in signing young Nigerian midfielder Alhassan Yusuf, who only has one year left on his contract at Swedish side IFK Gothenburg, according to the Daily Record.
Yusuf, aged only 20, has risen to become one of Gothenburg’s most influential stars, the club he joined as a starry-eyed teenager three years ago.
The FC Hearts Nigeria product was named the Allsvenskan newcomer of the year after his debut campaign in the Swedish top flight.
And despite Gothenburg’s struggles and close shave with relegation, Yusuf still impressed and was voted Young Player of the Year last season.
And Steven Gerrard’s side have been credited with an interest in the youngster.
The former Liverpool manager is focused on building a team that can defend the title they won in style last term and could jump at the chance to sign a raw gem who could be available for around £1 million.
Two Super Eagles stars, Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun played crucial roles to help the Gers win the Scottish Premiership title without losing a game.
