Saka misses the decisive penalty as Italy win Euro 2020

The Arsenal youngster missed when it mattered most as Italy stunned Gareth Southgate's men to win their second continental title

Bukayo missed the decisive spot-kick as four-time world champions Italy edged out England on penalties at Wembley to win Euro 2020.

The Three Lions were hoping to win their second major title after winning the World Cup in 1966 but missed out narrowly in what was also their second major final since 1966.

England, backed by an ecstatic crowd, started brightly as they took the lead through Luke Shaw inside the opening two minutes.

Shaw's goal was the fastest goal ever scored in the final of a Euro match. It looked like it would be a long night for Italy, but they gradually grew into the game.

However, despite having most of the ball, they lacked the cutting edge in the final third. Southgate's men went into the break with that slim lead and were only 45 minutes away from the win.

But Italy came out attacking in the second half, and their dominance finally paid off as Leonardo Bonucci bundled home from close range in the 67th minute.

Neither side could find the winner in full time and extra-time, setting up a penalty shootout.

Domenico Berardi scored first for Italy before Harry Kane levelled scores. Andrea Bellotti's miss handed England the initiative, but Marcus Rashford hit the post after Bonucci and Maguire scored their respective spot-kicks.

Jadon Sancho then missed England after Federico Bernardeschi put Italy ahead, leaving Jorginho to convert the winner for Italy.

But the Chelsea man, the hero against Spain, saw his spot-kick saved by Jordan Pickford. But it did not matter, though, as Saka's spot-kick that could have sent it to sudden death was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma
