The top European leagues are yet to start, but a few Nigerian stars made appearances for their teams in the lower leagues in Europe
Here is how some of them fared.
Peter Olayinka marked his return from injury with an assist as rampaging Slavia Prague put Teplice to the sword with a 3-1 win.
The forward replaced Petar Musa in the 62nd minute and went on to give an assist in the 82nd minute to aid Ivan Schranz’s hattrick. The 1-3 victory took the Reds to the summit of the Czech 1. Liga.
Victor Moses saw yellow before he went off for Reziuan Mirzov as Spartak Moscow secured a narrow 1-0 win over Kryla Sovetov in the Russian Premier League.
In the Belgium top-flight, Paul Onuachu was unusually absent in Genk’s 3-4 loss to Oostende. However, his international teammate, Cyriel Dessers, led the line for The Smurfs.
Bryan Heynen put Genk ahead before Dessers set up Theo Bongonda for a two-goal lead. However, Marko Kvasina pulled one back for the away side before half-time.
And shortly after the break, Makhtar Gueye made it 2-2. Bongonda put Genk ahead once again, but goals from Thierry Ambrose and Frederik Jaekel sealed a dramatic turnaround for Oostende.
There has been a lot of uncertainty at Genk, and Onuachu has been at the centre of it.
