The striker’s future is a subject of debate following a record-breaking season, but he seems not to be bothered about it
Paul Onuachu is enjoying his summer break despite the transfer rumours surrounding his future. The Nigerian international is back in the country, and he recently paid a visit to former Super Eagles and Man Utd forward Odion Ighalo.
The former Midtjylland striker posted a picture of himself and Ighalo at the latter’s residence on Instagram with the caption, “Thanks for having me Bros Jude goal poacher”.
Onuachu has been having a well-deserved vacation with his friends and family after a fantastic season which saw him score 35 times for Genk and win three individual awards.
However, his future remains unclear, but Genk are resigned to losing him this summer and are looking for potential replacements.
The Belgian side also have another Nigerian striker in their ranks in Cyriel Dessers but considered bringing in Rodrigo Muniz from Flamengo.
However, according to voetbalkrant, the deal is now off as they could not agree personal terms with the 20-year-old attacker.
The Smurfs are now looking for other alternatives as they prepare for the eventual departure of Onuachu. It is not yet clear where the 27-year-old will be playing his football next season, but Lyon and Lazio are some of the few clubs reportedly interested in his services.
