Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq bagged his sixth league goal in Almeria’s colours as coach José Gomes’ men fought out a thrilling 3-1 win at home to Malaga in a Segunda Division matchday 18 clash on Sunday.
The former national U-23 star opened the scoring in the 11th minute, converting well from a Fran Villalba pass, his third goal in his last three games for Almeria.
But Joaquín Muñoz equalized for the visitors with the last kick of the first half to see the two sides head into the break on level terms.
However, two late goals from Maras and Ramazani powered Almeria to their fifth victory in six previous games.
The latest win sees third-placed Almeria close the gap to second placed Espanyol – occupying the last La Liga automatic promotion spot – to just one point.
Sadiq has now found the back of the net six times since joining the club in the summer from Serbian side Partizan Belgrade.
Three of his goal tally have come in his last three appearances for the club, including netting the decisive winners against Alcorcon and Real Zaragoza.
Sadiq, however, continues to await his maiden Super Eagles call-up, with Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr preferring the likes of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, and Club Brugge’s Paul Onuachu to the former Roma man.
Sadiq, 23, was a member of the Nigerian Dream Team that claimed the bronze medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
